I participated in the 2025 capture-the-flag competition for YCEP, organized by Nullsec, a student interest group from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, in collaboration with Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), Cyber Youth Singapore (CYS) and Ngee Ann Polytechnic

This was a particularly interesting experience for me as it was my one and only, first ever, capture-the-flag hosted in real life
Additionally, I was participating in this CTF with my brother, who was new to the field of cybersecurity, which made this more enjoyable, being able to explain the stuff I knew to him
I had participated in many CTFs over the time I have taken to learn cybersecurity skills. However, prior to this competition, I had not done any in-person, which made this a memorable learning oppotunity
On the first two days, Nullsec members went through majority of the topics that were required to complete a CTF
I felt this helped me learn a lot of stuff that I did not learnt thoroughly when learning unofficially on my own

Unfortunately, we did not win this capture-the-flag tournament as I got distracted by the snacks and did not contribute as much as I would have liked to
If I had the chance to relive this experience, I would probably put in more effort and secure us the win
