I recently participated in my first physical hackathon and this is my creation
The theme was regarding AI and optimizing workflow and the hackathon open to all ages, which meant I had to compete against experienced working adults
It was organized by Meetstream.ai and TGB (The Generative Beings)
I wasn’t too sure what to make, as a student with no prior working experience and thus after some consideration, I made what I was most familiar with, Discord bots
Due to my age, it was hard to network with others at the start, leading me to be unable to form a team, which meant I had to work solo
This made it very difficult to brainstorm as I had nobody to bounce ideas off
Additionally, since most online hackathons I participated in required a minimum viable product by the end of the hackathon, I rushed to complete the Discord bot within the 8 hour timeframe
Apparently, you only needed to come up with an idea for that hackathon (which meant I worked so hard without reason)
At the end, although I did not win a prize, I got an honorable mention by the judge, Mr Jin Chong, a GTIA Community ASEAN Region Executive Council Member, founder of Jet Workflow, Software Intelligence Pte. Ltd. and 7-Network Pte. Ltd. for my young age and courage
I also talked with many people after the hackathon, including an RP Lecturer and quite a few Polytechnic students
